What are sight words?

Sight words are irregular words that cannot be decoded or sounded out using phonics. Because they make up 50% of our printed text, it is essential for children to learn them in order to become good readers. Most children, however, are unable to memorize the bulk of words necessary to make learning to read an easy and successful process.

The Story Words allow children to draw upon stories and visual aids rather than rely on the standard teaching method of rote memorization. Most people learn visually and The Story Words enable this to happen with great ease.
