"I'm always excited to see my student's reaction after using The Story Words for the first time. They smile and their little eyes light up as they realize, "Wow! I finally got it!" Its a very rewarding thing to see for any teacher!"

"I have taught in Buncombe County Schools for 30 years and have recently retired. I wish The Story Words would have been available for me to use with my elementary and middle school students who struggled with word recognition. The Story Words would provide a tool for students having difficulty with high-frequency vocabulary in reading and writing. The simplicity of The Story Words would make implementation an easy transition in any classroom for any teacher."

"I have The Story Words in my classroom and found them to be invaluable for vocabulary reinforcement as well as a great spelling strategy, especially for students who need alternative methods to learn sight words."

I have been teaching for over 25 years and I don't think my students have ever learned as quickly and retained the knowledge so consistently. In the past they would learn a word and the next day it was gone.
The Story Words reach several intelligences - the visual learner identifies with the colors and pictures. The social learner enjoys the social interaction of the characters in the stories and the kinesthetic learner enjoys the actions portrayed in the stories.
These are especially helpful for children who have difficulty with vocabulary and excellent for ESL children and those with learning disabilities. The children love the cards and so do I.

Kids who struggle the most with spelling seem to be most excited about their abilities to remember the words. Most of the children are remembering to spell all their words correctly in their own writing. Most children's retention of each word's spelling is dramatically improved.
Retention is high. I am always surprised by how much they remember on the second day each week. Even with 5 words per week, they could remember details in each one. Sight word recognition has boosted their reading ability exponentially. Confidence is huge for most. Almost 100% memory recall.
Many children have begun noticing their word wall words in the texts they are selecting on their own. A few still need a reminder about The Story Words, and then they quickly remember the word.
Enthusiasm is average to high. Most children are much more interested than they would be during a normal "working with words" teaching activity. Excitement is highest for students who know the fewest words at the beginning of the week.
